Full Week Behind!

We've had a full week! I registered for my NHS doctor and had an intake meeting with the nurse. You can chose your doctor but you have to be in the cachement area, ours is right up the road with all the shops so nice and close.

Wednesday I went to Nottingham Castle (yay on the bus!) and walked the grounds and museum. They had 2 special exhibits, one on Wedgewood pottery and another, "Threads," wardrobe through the centuries. The museum has it's own costume collection and the pieces on display were all worn by local residents, including a dress from a wife of the sheriff. Not sure which sheriff, probably not the one from the movie though.

Nottingham Castle and grounds:

Thursday Adam had his surgery, tonselectomy and radio-frequency paletoplasty and removing the thing that dangles in the back of your throat. He says he already breathes better and is healing well, the pain was bad the first day but hasn't been bothering him since. But he is on painkillers....

Other big news is I have been driving! I drove us home from the hospital, at night, in the rain. Adam cannot drive while he is on medication so it gives me a chance to get familiar with it all. And I think him being drugged helps him as well :)

Yesterday we stayed around town, did grocery shopping and we went to Sainsbury's where I said, 'now this is what I'm used to!' They even had a Starbucks inside, the aisles were nice and wide (wider than some of these roads) and the quality and variety is what I've been looking for.

Today we went to the Cattle Market, they don't sell cattle on Saturdays but they have auctions and some outdoor markets. We watched some auctions (37" LG LCD TV for 75£) and wandered around the showrooms. After we went up to see his Dad and Stepmom in Alfreton where I drove on the M1. Gotta say, roundabouts are trickier than I expected and some even have lights as well and if it goes red while you're in the roundabout, you stop there.

It's been a beautiful sunny day, still a bit chilly to me but as Adam says, I'm not acclimatized yet, and as Debbie says, I'm a wuss.

Tomorrow we are going to a car boot sale, they are on most Sundays when it doesn't rain.

I am settling in and getting used to things here, Adam's Dad says soon I will even talk with a British accent (no way, I will always sound like me) but for now, I would be happy to drive a whole day without Adam having to say, 'UK driving, UK driving.'

Hope everyone is doing well!

  1. Note from "The Editor - aka Adam", Car Boot sales are on regardless of weather, Andrea's driving is pretty good, yes the medication helps and by UK driving I mean "DRIVE ON THE LEFT!"

Other than that she is doing just great and has been a real help seeing as I cant drive,

Oh we went shopping today and visited some charity shops too.. Got some nice art work!
